The 7th NTWB (the National Traders’ Welfare Board) meeting took place at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, today, chaired by NTWB Chairman Shri Sunil J. Singhi.
In his opening remarks, DPIIT Joint Secretary Shri Sanjiv welcomed Chairman Shri Sunil J. Singhi on his second term and commended Board members for their dedication to traders’ interests.
DPIIT Joint Secretary Shri Sanjiv highlighted the retail sector’s key role in India’s economy and urged Board members to offer inclusive, practical inputs for the National Retail Trade Policy, emphasizing grassroots trader involvement.
Keeping with the theme, the meeting focused on the ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign, which aims to promote the domestic industries and products. A poster ‘Garv Se Kaho, Ye Swadeshi Hai’ was released, which conveys the Prime Minister’s message for the proud promotion of Indian goods. Members pledged to take the initiative forward by implementing it across the country.
NTWB Chairman Shri Sunil J. Singhi praised the Next-Gen GST Reforms effective from September 22, 2025. He noted the traders’ nationwide ‘GST Bachat Utsav’ as a tribute to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for reforms benefiting consumers and traders alike.
NTWB Chairman Shri Sunil J. Singhi reaffirmed the Government’s focus on easing business via simplified processes, reduced compliance, financial aid, and better infrastructure.
The Chairman added that trade associations’ inputs have been forwarded to relevant Ministries and Departments. He sought more ideas to improve awareness and access to welfare schemes for retail and trade sectors. (Source: PIB)
