AI Calling Campaign for Promoting SEBI Check Tool

SEBI has launched a multilingual AI-driven calling campaign under Press Release No. 12/2026 dated February 13, 2026, to promote the ‘SEBI Check’ Tool and validated UPI handles for secure fund transfers.

Through its press release dated February 13, 2026, SEBI introduced a pilot AI-enabled calling initiative to increase investor awareness about verifying payment details before transferring funds to SEBI-registered intermediaries.

The initiative strengthens SEBI’s digital transaction security framework.

SEBI Check Tool – Background and Purpose

SEBI introduced the ‘SEBI Check’ Tool and validated UPI handles on October 1, 2025, to enable verification of intermediary payment credentials. The tool allows investors to verify:

  • UPI IDs of SEBI-registered intermediaries
  • QR codes used for fund collection
  • Bank account details before transferring funds

This mechanism reduces risks arising from fake UPI IDs, manipulated QR codes, and impersonation in digital transactions.

AI-Driven Calling Campaign – Structure

SEBI has implemented the campaign on a pilot basis. Under this initiative:

  • A selected group of individual investors will receive informational calls
  • The calls will explain the SEBI Check Tool
  • Validated UPI handle verification will be highlighted
  • Frequently asked questions will be addressed

The outreach is multilingual and AI-enabled to ensure accessibility across Indian languages.

Collaboration with Sarvam

SEBI has partnered with Sarvam, a generative AI company building Indian language models, to support multilingual communication.

The partnership enables structured, scalable, and language-inclusive investor outreach during the pilot phase.

All awareness calls under this campaign will originate only from 1600-313-384.

SEBI has disclosed this number to help investors verify authenticity and avoid impersonation fraud. Calls from any other number claiming association with this initiative should be treated with caution.

Regulatory Objective

The campaign complements the SEBI Check Tool by proactively educating investors on verifying payment channels before fund transfers. The combined framework promotes secure digital transactions and reduces fraud risk in the securities market.
