ICAI and Indian Army MOU for Real-time UDIN Verification

ICAI has signed an MoU with the Army Purchase Organisation (APO) under the DGST, Indian Army, to enable real-time UDIN verification. The APO will verify UDINs through an API built into its vendor registration system.

This step improves transparency and ensures that Chartered Accountant certified documents remain authentic. It also builds trust and makes the Army’s verification and procurement processes faster.

Expected Architecture

i) APO system (vendor registration app) calls ICAI UDIN Verification API during vendor onboarding / document upload.

ii) ICAI UDIN service validates UDIN, verifies signer CA details, and returns a canonical verification result.

iii) Optionally: asynchronous notifications (webhooks) for large/bulk requests or queued verification.

iv) Persistent audit trail stored by both parties for non‑repudiation and compliance.

Expected Integration Flow

i) Vendor uploads document + UDIN.

ii) APO server calls ICAI API (server‑to‑server).

iii) ICAI responds with verification result (valid/invalid/expired/mismatch + metadata).

iv) APO proceeds based on result; logs & audit entries created.

Signing of the Agreement

CA Charanjot Singh Nanda, President of ICAI, CA Prasanna Kumar D, Vice-President, and CA (Dr.) Jai Kumar Batra, Secretary, attended the signing ceremony.

Lieutenant General Mukesh Chadha, AVSM, SM, VSM, Director General of Supplies and Transport & Senior Colonel Commandant, joined the event with senior officials and the UDIN Directorate team.

During the ceremony, the ICAI President said that the UDIN system has played a major role in curbing misuse and improving document authenticity. He added that the partnership with the Indian Army strengthens technology-led transparency in key institutions.

Purpose of the Integration

The DGST proposed the UDIN API integration to make the vendor registration process more secure. The system will verify CA-certified documents in real time.

The API will cut manual checks, prevent errors, and help reduce fraud risks. It also supports ICAI’s wider efforts to improve governance and accountability through digital solutions.

Impact of the Initiative

This move strengthens public trust in financial reporting and creates a benchmark for digital authentication across government systems. It also shows how ICAI works with government bodies to build strong and reliable processes.

UDIN Statistics

Since launch, the UDIN system has seen large-scale adoption. Chartered Accountants have generated about 9.72 crore UDINs.

Regulators and government authorities have verified more than 3.2 crore UDINs. These numbers show the strong acceptance and trust the system has built.
