The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Kochi Zonal Office, has provisionally attached immovable property worth ₹39.01 lakh under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, in connection with the Save Box Concepts investor fraud case. The attachment was executed on 17 February 2026 as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation against Swathi Rahim, Managing Director of M/s Save Box Concepts Pvt. Ltd.
The action follows multiple criminal complaints and financial investigations concerning alleged misappropriation of investor funds.
Basis of the ED Investigation: Kerala Police FIRs
The ED initiated proceedings based on four FIRs registered by the Thrissur City East Police Station, Kerala. The cases were filed against Swathi Rahim and other individuals under provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860.
According to the complaints, investors were induced to invest in M/s Save Box Concepts Pvt. Ltd. through assurances of:
- High or lucrative returns
- Allotment of company shares
- Partnership structures
- Franchise models linked to an online bidding application
Investigators allege that these representations resulted in misappropriation of funds collected from the public.
Save Box Concepts: Business Model Under Scrutiny
Investment Structure and Representations
Save Box Concepts Pvt. Ltd. marketed itself as India’s first bidding application. The company subsequently linked its operations to cryptocurrency trading and related ventures.
Investigative findings indicate that the company mobilised public investments but allegedly failed to honour its financial commitments. By late 2022, operations were reportedly discontinued, triggering criminal complaints from affected investors.
Alleged Financial Irregularities
Based on disclosures by the ED, the company is accused of:
- Raising funds through misleading or false assurances
- Failing to deliver promised returns or business models
- Diverting and layering investor funds for purposes unrelated to declared objectives
These allegations constitute the foundation for money laundering proceedings under the PMLA, where the underlying IPC offences qualify as scheduled offences.
₹39.01 Lakh Identified as Proceeds of Crime
Quantification Under PMLA Framework
The ED has quantified approximately ₹39.01 lakh as “proceeds of crime” linked to four specific complainants. The figure reflects alleged unlawful gains after accounting for partial refunds reportedly made to certain investors.
Under Section 2(1)(u) of the PMLA, “proceeds of crime” refers to property derived or obtained, directly or indirectly, from criminal activity relating to a scheduled offence.
Alleged Diversion and Layering
Investigators allege that the identified funds were diverted or layered for:
- Celebrity brand endorsements
- Cryptocurrency trading losses
- Personal expenditures
- Other unspecified expenses
These findings formed the basis for attaching property equivalent in value to the quantified proceeds.
Details of the Provisional Attachment
Through a Provisional Attachment Order dated 17 February 2026, the ED attached immovable property valued at ₹39,01,000. The attachment represents property equivalent to the alleged proceeds of crime.
The property is reported to have been received by Jayasurya V. M., a prominent Malayalam film actor, in Kerala.
Under the PMLA, provisional attachment functions as a preventive safeguard to ensure that suspected assets are not transferred, concealed, or dissipated before adjudication. The attachment remains subject to confirmation by the Adjudicating Authority under the Act.
Legal Status and Ongoing Proceedings
The ED has confirmed that the investigation into Save Box Concepts Pvt. Ltd. is ongoing. Additional findings may result in further action under the PMLA or other applicable statutes.
A provisional attachment does not amount to a determination of guilt. Final confiscation or release of the property depends on adjudication and due legal process.
As proceedings advance, regulatory authorities, investors, and legal professionals are closely monitoring developments in this case.
